This is my thesis project for my master degree of industrial design in Rhode Island School of Design. I wanted to do something different than a good old commercial design project as a finale for my academic chapter of life. The project was finished during a global pandemic, for which there isn’t any installation photo because our grad show was simply cancelled. Even now looking back at all the struggle I went through during my thesis year, it feels like a dream.
It is not a project with too much commercial value, I asked too many “why?” than “how?”. It wasn’t the easiest thesis to develop in a department of industrial design, due to the capitalist nature of our major. There weren’t many people I could communicate with in my studio when the topic got too far down in the rabbit hole and got too philosophical. It didn’t bother me that much because I knew that it might be my last chance to ask questions, make mistakes and pursue an “academic truth” instead of trying to make everybody happy.
