Borrow Bones is a chatelaine designed for people who found natural detailed forms weirdly fascinating. It is completely handmade, from the lightbox to each circle on the chains, using brass, maple ,electronic parts so that it lights up, resin and natural tissues. I also use digital modeling techniques to plan the tolerance and assembly between different materials.
This is a Jewelry piece that incorporates functionality and self presentation. I name it “Borrow Bones” because the main form of the light box is inspired by a traditional Chinese window pattern through which my ancestors were able to bring the natural spirit into their own place.
There is something poetic yet cynical about framing a little piece of nature into jewelry by resin. It almost feels like forcing the process of life to freeze at that very moment of beauty.
